I have been a fan of dance music for as long as I can remember. It started with recording songs off the radio and then downloading songs off the internet before I started working and could finally afford to buy the music I wanted. I have a large vinyl collection in storage of trance, drum and bass, UK hardcore, house and hard house, and more – it has been on my list to clean, sort and properly catalogue for a while…
Over the last few months I have been reflecting on how I have not really achieved in life what I would have expected 20 years ago and what I can do to change that. I have spent a lot of time in my life feeling like I was running down the way up and not really getting anywhere but I concluded that most, if not all, of that, is probably down to me.
I have spent a lot of time procrastinating over the years so when I came to set up this blog, I chose the first name that came to mind.
This particular track reads like a powerhouse of trance artists – two of the most prolific early trance vocalists with two of the most significant producers of the time. A collection of several of my favourite artists all on the same track:
BT & Hybrid featuring Kirsty Hawkshaw and Jan Johnson – Running Down The Way Up
The rest of the album this track was released on – BT’s Movement In Still Life – is also an album I listened to a lot growing up, in particular Dreaming was played on repeat during my A level software development project. Around the same time, Hybrid also released the album Wide Angle, another of my favourites.
I personally think the name “Running Down The Way Up” is a catchy name for a personal website but all of the search engine optimization says it’s a bit long. Let’s see how that pans out in the long run!
